About MAEW 2025
Since 2019, MAEW has been an annual platform for activists, youth, academics, and communities to gather, exchange, and mobilize around environmental, social, and human rights issues in the region. In 2025, MAEW will take place in Nakhon Phanom Province under the theme: “The Fake Green: From Green Lies to People Power.”, which is a common pressing issue in the Southeast Asia region, especially using environmental reasons as a front to mask industrial impacts or grab resources from communities.
The main theme of MAEW this year is to critizing the use of climate crisis as a tool for “greenwashing” for industries and investment, attempting to drive for sustainable energy policy and collaboration of communities, civil society, and continuous supporters of environmental movements in the region.
